TORONTO, ON – November 19, 2024 – The Canadian Nuclear Isotope Council (CNIC) is excited to announce that CUP Contract Labs, a German company offering contract laboratory services to clients across the radiopharmaceutical sector, has joined the CNIC as its newest international member organization.
CUP Contract Labs was established in 1991 in the “Radiopharmaceutical Valley” in Radeberg, Germany. Since its inception, the organization has expanded significantly and now houses over 70 expert employees in state-of-the-art facilities. CUP’s clients range from local startups to international manufacturers of radiopharmaceuticals. The laboratories are GMP certified and FDA inspected.
CUP Contract Labs specializes in the provision of tailored services for radiopharmaceuticals across Europe and the United States. Emphasis is placed on sterility testing and the analysis of Leachables & Extractables, particularly for radioactive products. A variety of additional tests on radionuclides, precursors, and finished products are also conducted. While CUP does not currently have any facilities in Canada, their joining the CNIC demonstrates their interest in the Canadian isotope market, and the critical role that Canada’s isotope leadership plays on the world stage.
“I’m thrilled to welcome CUP Contract Labs as the CNIC’s newest international member organization. CUP’s innovative approach to their contract laboratory services have made them a trailblazer in the European market, and I look forward to facilitating their upcoming engagement with the Canadian isotope community through the CNIC,” said James Scongack, Chair of the CNIC. “The CNIC is pleased to continue to expand the international contingent of its membership, which allows us to showcase Canada’s isotope excellence on the global stage and introduce our Canadian members to international opportunities.”
“We are excited to join the CNIC as a new international member, bringing CUP Contract Labs’ expertise to the Canadian market and contributing to the advancement of life-saving medications” said Dr. Dirk Freitag-Stechl, CEO of CUP Contract Labs. “Our extensive experience with radiopharmaceutical products and their precursors will enable us to actively support and strengthen the supply chain within the Canadian nuclear medicine community and beyond.”
