The CNIC team visits Pacer Air Freight, a leading transportation logistics company, as part of its member outreach efforts

On March 10th, the CNIC team had the distinct pleasure of visiting one of our valued member organizations, Pacer Air Freight, at their facility in Mississauga, Ontario.

Pacer Air Freight is a transportation logistics company with over 30 years of experience working with clients to deliver irreplaceable shipments around the world. What began as a business operation with a single van has become a tight knit team of logistics professionals and relentless problem solvers. Led by four brothers, Mike, JP, Ryan and Steven Stopay, the Pacer team takes a uniquely thoughtful approach to their business – thinking of their staff as part of their extended family, and their customers as partners as opposed to clients.

L-R: Evan Cameron (CNIC), Mike Stopay (Pacer), Myron Pelly (Pacer), Amanda Tieber (CNIC), Melody Greaves (CNIC), Giovanna Ippolito (Pacer), and Ryan Stopay (Pacer).

This thoughtful approach was on full display during our visit to Pacer’s office and warehouse, where we began with a discussion with Giovanna and Myron, two of Pacer’s logistics pros, who shared the importance of their work. While Pacer’s team supports clients across multiple sectors, many of their clients transport isotopes and radiopharmaceuticals across the country and around the world.

It became quite evident during our conversation that the entire Pacer team understand and take very seriously the important role they play in the isotope supply chain. Ultimately, without companies like Pacer, many patients would never receive the radiopharmaceuticals that support their scans and target diseases like cancer. This responsibility often means facing complex logistical challenges with no option other than success – and the Pacer team not only succeeds in ensuring that patients get the radiopharmaceuticals they need, but they also work to educate their partner transporters (such as commercial airlines) about the precious cargo they are transporting.

We also visited the warehouse for a tour of Pacer’s new facility. While walking through the warehouse, the breadth of Pacer’s clients became clear. The goods throughout the facility ranged from children’s toys like tricycles to medical hot cells which will go on to be used to handle isotopes and produce radiopharmaceuticals. This range of clients and products demonstrates Pacer’s commitment to tackling any job, big or small, to support their clients.

On behalf of the CNIC, we would like to thank the Pacer Air Freight team for the important role they play in Canada’s isotope supply chain. We also extend our sincere thanks to Ryan, Mike, Myron and Giovanna for the warm welcome to their facility and their consistent support of the CNIC.
