TORONTO, ON — February 27, 2025 –The Canadian Nuclear Isotope Council is thrilled to welcome Minogi Corp. as its newest member organization. Minogi is an economic development corporation wholly owned by Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation (MSIFN) and based out of Port Perry, Ontario.
Minogi’s team of internal consulting specialists work with partners across several sectors to support clean energy and infrastructure projects across the province. Their work is critical for their community, serving the dual purpose of supporting Ontario’s clean energy grid while also providing additional revenue for the First Nation, which can then be used for education, healthcare and community supports.
In addition to its primary focus on clean energy and infrastructure projects, Minogi also has an emerging interest in Canada’s nuclear isotope sector, particularly with the current context of significant growth and innovation across the industry. As the advocacy body that brings Canada’s isotope ecosystem together, the CNIC will play an important role in connecting Minogi with leading isotope organizations across the country.
“As board members of Minogi Corp., our Council is encouraged to see Minogi help advance the use of isotopes for applications like medical imaging and cancer treatment,” Kelly LaRocca, Chief of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation. “The clean energy sector is far more than turbines and wires. Our energy investments can also contribute to the global fight against cancer, keep hospitals safe and clean, and help save lives.”
“I’m excited to welcome Minogi to the CNIC as our newest member organization. We look forward to partnering with Minogi’s leadership to support their engagement with Canada’s isotope sector, and to find new ways to collaborate to best support patients, families, and communities across the country,” said James Scongack, Chair of the CNIC. “As we work towards our goal of doubling isotope production in Canada by 2030, the CNIC remains committed to working with partners across all sectors to ensure that Canadian isotopes continue to provide hope around the world.”
